Donna Cutting to be my guest on the Dr. Sally Show!

Listen Live or Download Later!

Tuesday September 2 at 4pm New York time-

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/drsallywitt/2008/09/02/Donna-Cutting-on-the-Dr-Sally-Show

Donna Cutting wasn’t a typical kid. Instead of playing games and watching TV, she was busy putting on talent shows for the neighbors, rehearsing her Oscar speech in the bathroom mirror, and signing autographs for anyone who would ask—usually her parents. Today, Cutting is using that same passion and energy as a professional speaker specializing in customer service and employee morale— two hand-in-hand topics for the times, when good service seems hard to find. She lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, with her husband,Jim, and Snowball, their Maltese puppy. Contact her on the Web at thecelebrityexperience.com.

The Celebrity Experience
How every business can prosper - and profit -
by approaching customer service like Hollywood
How would you describe the state of customer service today?
If you said “dismal”—or a similar, more colorful word—then join the
crowd.
Nine out of ten people say that it should be easy to provide
customer service, yet literally half the time they do not have a
positive experience, according to a recent survey by Creative
Strategies and Connell Associates.
Donna Cutting couldn‛t agree more. A stage actress turned business
writer-speaker-consultant, Cutting is on fire about customer service
in America—the good, the bad, and the ugly—and delivers hope and
help in a new book, The Celebrity Experience: Insider Secrets to
Delivering Red-Carpet Customer Service (Wiley, 2008, $24.95).
Cutting spent a year and a half interviewing people who own, manage,
or work for companies that cater to the Hollywood elite. Her
mission? To learn how “real-world” businesses can follow their lead
and provide celebrity-caliber service to their own customers.
In The Celebrity Experience, Cutting shows how every company,
regardless of its business or budget, can create a red-carpet
experience and turn their customers into adoring fans. With
Hollywood as her backdrop, she shares fascinating
behind-the-scenes stories and helpful hands-on advice. Other ideas
and insights:
Best practices and service secrets from the Hollywood A-list
How “regular” companies—from mega-corporations to
mom-and-pop businesses—are becoming service stars and
boosting their top and bottom lines
Seven steps for getting started—from owning up to where
you are now to rallying your team to help develop a service
strategy
What every employee can do even when their company or boss
isn‛t on board
Why no company is safe from customer “disservice” blogs and
Internet sites

Samuel Clairborne on the Dr. Sally Show today!

Award winning musician Samuel Claiborne will be interviewed by Dr. Sally Witt today!

Listen Live or Download Later-

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/drsallywitt/2008/08/26/Samuel-Clairborne-Musician-with-a-Miracle

His musical journey is both successful and, in many ways, miraculous given the fact that several years ago he suffered a tragic auto accident that left him quadriplegic. He had no idea whether or not he would ever recover the use of his limbs, but his faith in alternative healing modalities and his deep relationship with music helped him to regain use of all limbs.

Samuel Claiborne, founder of the Sonotrope recording label, has recently received a grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts. The composer whose CD credits include Avant Garde duo Loons in the Monastery’s “Stranger Than Truth” and “The Annunciation” was awarded unrestricted funds in the amount of $7000 which he will use to compose more music.

His CD’s, which are experimental, represent a departure from his early rock/punk/reggae style where he was a member of several New York City bands, including The Wolves, The Poorboys, and the popular Things Fall Apart.

This new direction, according to music writer Clara Apted of Gnostic Listener” labels Claiborne “The Thelonious Monk of New Music”. Of his work, Chronogram Magazine writer Peter Aaron wrote: “anyone in need of a little universe-centering quietude will connect with Claiborne’s impressionistic, beautifully pensive playing.”

After a life-threatening accident that left him temporarily paralyzed, he came to a deeper understanding of the power of music as a force in his life as well as the lives of others. Said Aaron, “He certainly had no shortage of pain and spiritual trials from which to draw for the sparse, fathomless, and profoundly moving solo piano improvisations in “The Annunciation.”

“While I appreciate the money immensely, especially as a father with two kids in college, the affirmation that the NYFA grant has given me is absolutely priceless. All artists need to eat, but perhaps almost as much, we need to know that our art is touching people, resonating with them. This grant has told me that my work is indeed reaching people, and it gives me the strength to persevere as a both composer and performer,” said Claiborne who is also a published poet, essayist, visual artist, and photographer.

He is one of one hundred forty-four NYFA Fellows chosen from among over 4,500 applicants including architects, choreographers, composers, fiction writers, painters, photographers, playwrights/screenwriters and video artists. The Fellows were selected by peer panels, which were assembled according to each artistic discipline.

Past NYFA Fellows include Spike Lee, Tony Kushner, Julie Taymor, Carroll Dunham, Todd Haynes, Tamara Jenkins, David Hammons, Junot Diaz (author of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao) and many others. Since 1985, over 3,700 New York artists have received NYFA Fellowships.

“Whether it’s Brooklyn, Manhattan or Queens, one thing is certain - New York is the place to be for all artists, emerging or mid-career,” said NYFA Executive Director Michael L. Royce. “New York is Warhol. New York is Spike Lee. New York is Gershwin.

Loss of Innocence - Drug Use in Young Girls on the Dr. Sally Show

Dr. Sally will be having a very deep interview on Friday, August 8 at 4pm Eastern.

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/drsallywitt/2008/08/08/Loss-of-Innocence-on-the-Dr-Sally-Show

Methamphetamine trafficking and abuse in the United States have been on the rise over the past few years and, as a result, this drug is having a devastating impact in many communities across the nation. Methamphetamine is increasing in the southwest, midwest, and southeast regions of the United States. Particularly disturbing is the fact that many young people perceive significant benefits in using Meth and little risk. Most users begin at the age of eighteen, but statistics are showing that the age of users are now starting as young as fourteen.

Loss of Innocence (Virgin Books, 2008) by Ron and Carren Clem, tells the first hand story of Carren’s journey into the underworld of meth addiction and her father’s fight to bring her back. After a long struggle and almost near death, Carren is now clean for 6 years.

Carren Clem, mother, and recovered meth addict, and her father are currently traveling nationwide discussing this growing problem with teens and how parents and society are handling it. They were the original keynote speakers at the launch of the Montana Meth project and have been speaking at numerous drug conferences, schools, churches and organizations around the country. Their non-profit organization Teens-N-Crisis is known nationwide. Since their efforts, Montana has seen a 60% reduction in Meth addiction as well as numerous other surrounding states. Ron and Carren have been featured on Nationally Syndicated Radio and TV programs, including The Montel Williams Show, and ABC’s Nightline and Dateline Australia.
