Greetings Everyone,
Here we are preparing to embark on the holidays and I wanted to share a couple holiday thoughts with you all.
First, be sure and stay safe when you are out there shopping, visiting or attending holiday parties. If you are planning on having one or more drinks then try and carpool with a designated driver buddy system. If you are important enough to be invited to the party, then be sure they see you back at the office. Another safety issue that has become a serious problem these days is driving while talking or texting on a cell phone or mobile device. This is a real problem and causes many accidents. Why not pull over if you need to talk or just turn the phone off until you reach your desination safely? It is difficult enough to keep your eyes out for drunk drivers and now we add cell phone abusers to the mix. Do everyone a favor and get yourself a “hands-free” kit. With today’s technological advances there are plenty of Bluetooth solutions.
Second, have you considered doing your shopping online vs fighting the crowds at the malls and shopping centers? Recently (Black Friday), there have been a few deaths including a crowd of more than 2000 crazed shoppers trampling a Wal*Mart employee to death and injuring an 8-month pregnant woman. I am not sure about you but I simply cannot deal with that ordeal. I’d rather shop through a reputable online source, such as Amazon or other major retailers online. You will still get the deals, believe me. Think safe, think smart.
Finally, holidays are for family and fun so be sure to spend time with the family and call, email or otherwise contact relatives and friends that you do not speak to frequently. Holiday music and shows can be a very magical way to take the edge off during the holidays. Stop by my show (cheap plug coming) Behind The Mike on Tuesday December 23, 2008 at 8:00 PM EST for our big BIG Christmas Show and bring the family with you because you will not be disappointed. The show is designed to do nothing but celebrate and have fun.
So enjoy the holiday and be safe and think first. Everyone is loved and so it is important to exercise a little thinking before acting and not only now but all year every year.
Happy Holidays,
Joel Michalec
